The moment JV held his first VHS format video camera in the 7th grade there was an immediate urge to bend and push the technology to create visual experiences that defied standard expectations.

J-Virus Videos is the result of 35 years of play with the video camera as the toy. While all work prior to 2020 has been lost to time and shifting technology the contemporary results stand for themselves. Enjoy yourself.

Small god paintings are the result of 30 years of experimentation. Completely untrained as a visual artist, JV has attempted to create paintings from feeling alone.

Does it feel right? Is it pleasing to the eye? Does it excite me? Those are the leading questions for any successful painting found here.

Created during 3 separate eras what you see before you is the best of what still exists. Nothing is left from the earliest period but the following eras contain excellent examples.

In this work you will notice a preoccupation with Abstract Expressionism. The gut reaction JV experienced during personal study of that very American movement drove the creative aesthetic you see before you. While you may think you see Action Painting a la Jackson Pollack in some of the work rest assured that JV's Cut In method is all his own. Seen in person the Cut In paintings display a physical depth resulting from months of layering and cutting the paint in with a bladed edge. Each line of paint was meticulously added by hand one at a time. As for the rest of the work the images stand for themselves.

Can you Small god Party?

I certainly hope so.
